Good fish and great wine

Having completed my advanced wine certificate, I love matching food with specialist wines, particularly ones that have an interesting story and not totally mainstream.  We have put together a compact list with some delicious wines.  There is a crisp French Blanc de Blanc, which is a sparkling wine, made with white grapes, available by the glass it is a great way to kick off a meal. Alternatively you could start off with a beautiful bottle of Bird in hand which is a blush sparkling made from pinot noir grapes.  There is not a hint of strawberry syrup in sight, instead a dry elegant hand made sparkling wine for any occasion.  We have a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir as our house wines.  They are brilliant quality for the very reasonable price of $7 a glass or $32 per bottle.  There are wines from New Zealand, Italy, France and Argentina as well as superb Riesling from Shaw vineyards near Canberra, which has won more medals this year than an Olympic swimming team.

We have two very special wines on the list.  A Milton Chardonnay from Gisborne New Zealand, which is the oldest organic vineyard in New Zealand. We are also stocking a Pinot Gris from Yealands Way, which is another pioneering New Zealand winery that is billed as the most sustainable in the southern hemisphere, with baby doll sheep trimming all the grass between the vines.

We have decided to allow BYO Monday –Friday, with  $10 corkage per bottle.  All our wines are very reasonably priced and are matched to specifically complement the food.   Come and have a glass at Fish & Co
